About the museum
In 1932 Baron Eric Adelswärd allowed the local heritage society to use Fabrikskullen, where the first relocated buildings were placed. The main building, the Gruvstugan, was a residential house for eight miner families from Bersbo and was inaugurated in 1939. A smithy from Viresjö was erected in 1948, and the stables from Roten, dating from the early 1800s, were moved there in 1952.
Åtvids hembygdsförening (Åtvid Local Heritage Society) was founded in 1922. In 1965 the land for the homestead was donated to Åtvidaberg Municipality on condition that it would always belong to the association. The homestead is used for the association's activities and for celebrations, such as National Day.
