About the museum

ABBA The Museum is on Djurgårdsvägen on Djurgården in Stockholm and opened in 2013. The museum is run by POP Story AB, while Stiftelsen ABBA The Museum (ABBA The Museum Foundation) has the purpose of preserving and displaying objects connected with the group ABBA and with Swedish musical life, and of receiving and managing donations of such objects.

The museum is no ordinary exhibition: it is as much about the visitor as about the group. You can feel what it is like to stand on stage with ABBA, sing in the famous Polarstudion or test your knowledge in an ABBA quiz. Alongside the original costumes and gold records there are interactive stations.

The exhibition shows, among other things, the Waterloo stage costumes and the cat dresses in the Gold Room, the Polarstudion with its mixing desk, and themes such as the musicals Mamma Mia! and Chess. The exhibition After ABBA and Dancing Queen showings complement the permanent parts.

The same building houses a bistro and the Backstage Hotel. The museum admits visitors with booked time slots, and has an audio guide in which the band members tell their own story.
