About the museum
The Bensinmuseet (Petrol Museum) in Älvsbyn is housed in an old Caltex petrol station. The building has become a museum where visitors can have fika in a 1950s setting and see a collection described as one of the largest of petrol nostalgia in Northern Europe.
The collection comprises items from the golden age of petrol stations, from the 1920s to the 1960s, such as station equipment, spare parts, advertising items and motoring magazines. There are also larger and smaller vehicles, mopeds and toys.
Älvsbyn Municipality lists the museum among the municipality's museums and describes it as a nostalgia trip with Sweden's largest exhibition of petrol stations. The museum's website is at caltex.nu.
