About the museum
Eyvind Johnson was born in 1900 in Björkelund in Överluleå parish, today part of Boden, and is counted among the great Swedish writers of the 20th century. In 1974 he shared the Nobel Prize in Literature with Harry Martinson. The childhood surroundings around Boden recur in several of his books.
The cottage in Björkelund, the bakehouse associated with his upbringing, is today a small writer's memorial. In summer visitors can come for a guided visit of Björkelund, buy books and drink coffee, and other activities are also arranged there. Those who want to get to know the writer better can follow the signs of the city walk in Eyvind Johnson's footsteps, which runs from the railway station to the pedestrian street in Boden.
