About the museum
Torslund homestead museum (hembygdsgård) in Almunge is run by Almunge Hembygdsgille, a local heritage guild founded in 1956. The farm was previously home to a forest ranger and an old people's home, and today the guild has set up a museum here. The association looks after the farm's buildings, grounds and collections and publishes the yearly booklet Almunge Allehanda.
On the site are, among other things, Smedstorpsstugan, where the association holds its annual meeting and serves coffee and waffles, and a dance floor. The biggest event of the year is Torslundsdagen on the second Sunday in June. There are also, for example, a Valborg celebration, a music café, theatre and a winter lantern walk. The guild works with the adult education association Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan on cultural programmes.
