About the museum
Beredskapsmuseet is located in Djuramossa between Helsingborg and Viken, and is housed in Batteri Helsingborg, a fixed coastal artillery battery from the Second World War. The installation belonged to the coastal artillery, which existed as a branch of the armed forces from 1902 to 2000. In autumn 1996 Johan and Marie Andrée began planning a museum in the old defence installation, and the museum was inaugurated on 30 June 1997. It is run privately.
The Stiftelsen Beredskapsmuseet foundation was formed in 1999 and has long-term responsibility for the installation and the collections, which consist of objects and archive material on the Second World War and the Cold War, the coastal artillery, the defence of Skåne, weapons history and uniforms. Day-to-day operations are handled by Beredskapsmuseet i Djuramossa AB. The museum also manages a number of defence posts on the Skåne Line (Skånelinjen) and owns the rights to the illustration En svensk tiger (A Swedish Tiger).
Visitors can see the gun Maja, the nuclear-proof command centre with an exhibition on weapons history, a barrack for enlisted men, the gun hall and an aircraft hangar with Kanoncafeet (the Gun Café) and the exhibition Kristidsmat (Wartime Food). Special guided visits go to the gun Brita and the hospital bunker.

| Good to know | A typical visit takes about two hours without a coffee break. Guided visits for groups take about 45 minutes; the special visit to the gun Brita and the hospital bunker extends the visit by an hour and requires good physical fitness. Dogs are welcome on a lead except in the assembly area (sammanställningsplatsen). The museum also arranges bunker walks in Helsingborg and half-day tours along the Skåne Line. |
