About the museum
Bodwik's boat and fishing museum is in Boviken, about one mil north of Skellefteå, in a hut next to Bodwik village farm (byagård). The farm is run by Bodwiks hembygdsförening (Bodwik local heritage society).
The collection is about life on the coast. Among the objects are a seal trap (sälkätte), a type of trap for catching seals alive, and the so-called Boström boats, which were built by village resident Anders Boström, who made 103 boats in total. The museum also tells the story of how hemp was grown in the area to make rope.
