About the museum
Bredaryd local heritage park was founded in 1938 and consists of several buildings from the early 19th century to the early 20th century. The park is maintained and run by Bredaryds hembygdsförening (Bredaryd Local Heritage Association) and lies in a green area by Ringvägen, in the middle of a residential area in Bredaryd.
On the site are two single-room cottages, one of them with two storeys, a linbasta (flax-processing shed), a parish storehouse, Pelle Nymans verkstad (workshop), an industrial museum, a sawmill, a smithy, a church stable and an exhibition hall. The premises store and display an older collection of tools and industrial objects, and the site gives an impression of how things looked in the past.
The association also includes the Hembygdsgården in Hamra, just outside Bredaryd, which consists of a cottage with a traditional ryggås roof and a storehouse, both from the 18th century.
