About the museum
Derome Trä & Nostalgimuseum was founded in 1991 by Erling Andersson. His father started the Derome sawmill in 1946, and Erling later ran the company together with his three brothers; the third generation now leads it. For more than thirty years Erling collected old machines and tools to show how woodworking has developed in Sweden.
The museum is now run by a non-profit association. The collections include tools and machines from different eras and tell the story of the importance of wood from the Stone Age to the present day. In addition to the exhibitions, the museum has been expanded with a café, a shop and a conference facility, created in cooperation with Derome AB.
The wood art hall opened in May 2017 and moved to new premises in 2023. The nostalgia exhibition from 2012 was rebuilt in 2022–2023 and is now called Så levde vi då. The museum also arranges machine days, guided tours, school programmes and activities for children.
