About the museum
Bua Fiskemuseum is housed in one of the oldest houses in the harbour, on the harbour square, no more than 20 metres from the quay edge. The museum opened on 17 May 1997 and is run by Värö-Stråvalla Hembygdsförening (local heritage association), which works to preserve the cultural heritage of Väröbacka, Stråvalla and Bua.
The museum holds old tools and other objects belonging to fishing and seafaring. There is also documentation in the form of newspaper clippings and pictures describing fishing in and around Bua from the 20th century onwards.
During the summer the museum is self-service, that is, unstaffed. The association also conducts visits for groups and receives school classes.
