About the museum
Limabacka local history museum is run by Värö-Stråvalla Local Heritage Society, which was founded in 1972 to preserve the cultural heritage of Väröbacka, Stråvalla and Bua. The museum is in a basement space under the Limagården care home for older people in Väröbacka.
The collection was started by Ivar Johansson, who cycled around the Värö district gathering objects. He was one of the society's founders, known as a collector of local folk tradition, and the man who rescued and restored Sunvära mill.
The museum displays its collections in several sections: a memorial room for Ivar Johansson, a courthouse room (tingshussal), a school section, a shoemaker's workshop, a general store, agricultural tools, a home and household section and a carpentry workshop. The society also runs Sunvära mill, Bua fishing museum and Kärsegården.
