Höörs mölla

About the museum

Höörs mölla, formerly called Bossamöllan, is a water mill with a large overshot wheel by the Höörån river in Stenskogen. There has been a mill on the site since the first half of the 18th century, and a mill appears on a map of Höörs village from 1742. The present building dates from 1839, and the mill was in operation until 1947.

After the mill fell into disrepair, Höör Municipality bought the property in 1973 with plans for housing. Föreningen Höörs mölla leased the mill and restored it and the dwelling house in 1979–1980. The municipality restored the mill pond and surroundings in 1981, and the facility was inaugurated in May 1982.

Today the museum is run by the association, which also has a garden café by the old miller's house. The mill is the starting point of the hiking trail Brottets bana.
