About the museum
Frösåkers homestead museum (hembygdsgård) is on the hill west of the bus station in Östhammar, just south of the old water tower. Frösåkers hembygdsförening (Frösåker local heritage society) was founded in 1925 on the initiative of Tor Schram and today has around 300 members. The site has ten old buildings, and the association also has a crofthouse for naval sailors (båtsmanstorp) in Marka, just under one mil south of Östhammar.
In summer the association keeps the homestead museum open with visits to the houses, guided tours and refreshments. In summer 2025 the farm was open from 13 July to 10 August, 13:00–16:00. The association has also arranged exhibitions, for example on the Russian raids of 1719 (rysshärjningen), and celebrates National Day on the site.
