About the museum
Öregrunds hembygdsgård (homestead museum) is run by Öregrunds hembygdsförening (local heritage society). The farm consists of several cottages, many of which have been moved there more recently, and one of the houses holds a maritime museum. In the other cottages a great many old objects are displayed.
The farm hosts activities, mainly during the summer half-year, such as the celebration of National Day, midsummer pole raising, a craft day for schoolchildren and coffee service at the Badortsdagen (Spa Town Day). The midsummer meadow behind the buildings is used for dancing and children's activities.
The homestead society also owns and manages the lightship Västra Banken, whose superstructure stands as a monument at Fyrskeppsudden in Öregrund harbour.
