About the museum
Bjäre Härads hembygdsförening (Bjäre Hundred local heritage association) was formed in 1929 under the leadership of Ludvig Nobel, who was the association's chairman for its first seventeen years. In the same year he bought the farm Boarp nr 2, Ågegården, and then had the cultural heritage of Bjäre looked after. The heritage park in Boarp was established in 1954, when the Nobel family donated Ågegården with the surrounding land to the association.
Ågegården is a four-wing farm that was moved to its present site during the laga skifte land reform of 1839–1844 and is a listed building (K-märkt byggnadsminne). Around the farm the association has gathered several older buildings. The Skorstensgården from Hjärnarp parish, a farm from the early 19th century, was rebuilt in the park in 1978–1979. The Palmagården, a ridge-beam cottage from the early 1700s, was moved here from Påarp in 1938. There is also the Hjärnarpsgården, Mor Hektor's cottage and a smithy that was previously in Förslöv.
In the Skorstensgården are the association's library, a weaving room and agricultural implements, and in the loft crafts are shown, such as locksmithing, shoemaking and saddle-making. The smithy is used on event days, when a smith demonstrates the craft. The association arranges activities in the park during the year, and volunteers work on working Sundays to maintain the buildings.
