About the museum
Hinnakullsstugan is an 18th-century local heritage cottage (hembygdsstuga) that was moved from the Hinnakull farm and now stands in Torup. It is managed by Torup Local Heritage Society, which was founded in 1923 and has more than a hundred years of activity behind it. The society has built up a homestead museum with a school museum, museum collections, emigrant research and collections of archaeological finds, and it is also responsible for the Lintalund homestead museum in Glassbo.
The homestead museum also houses a school museum and a collection of finds from Tidemans holme in Nissan. The society has published six local history books and had two local history films made about vanished environments. Midsummer is celebrated at the cottage with a maypole raising (stångresning) and dancing, and the society has kept the cottage open on Hembygdsparkernas dag (Local Heritage Parks Day) in August.
