About the museum
Landeryd became a railway junction when the Västra centralbanan line opened in 1906, where it met the Halmstad–Nässjö line. The station building was then extended and the oldest part of the engine shed was built. The engine shed was extended in 1924, and at its peak around 250 people worked on the railway in Landeryd. Passenger services on the Västra centralbanan were discontinued in 1985.
The Landeryds Järnvägsmuseum association was founded on 22 May 2004 to care for and develop the railway environment in Landeryd. In 2007 the association bought the engine shed with its turntable and track area from what was then Banverket (the Swedish Rail Administration). The station building, the goods warehouse and the trolley store have been protected as state heritage buildings (byggnadsminne) since 2018–2021, and the weighbridge house at the rail yard was rebuilt in 2019.
The association's locomotives and carriages stand in the engine shed between runs. The association runs museum trains on a number of occasions each year, and Tågdagarna i Landeryd (Train Days in Landeryd) in early September is one of Sweden's largest museum-train events.
