About the museum

Töre took shape in the early 1800s, when Törefors bruk (ironworks) was founded in 1799 by Baron Samuel Gustaf Hermelin. From the start the works consisted of a sawmill, a forge and a mill; later the largest blast furnace in Norrland and Norrbotten's first ore railway were added. Seven buildings in original condition from the works survive on the heritage site.

Hyttgården lies by the Töreälven river and is run by Töre Local Heritage Society, which works to preserve and inform about Töre's history. Here there is a museum with objects from everyday village life, a bakehouse, the old school and meeting rooms. The association arranges gatherings and events, for example Friday fika and a Christmas market.
