About the museum
Vitåfors maskinmuseum (Vitåfors Machinery Museum) is a private collection in Vitåfors in Norrbotten, built up by an enthusiast of motor-driven machines. It includes everything from older excavators to crawler excavators, and the collection counts as a museum with real rarities. Twelve cable-operated excavators built between the 1930s and the 1960s are the collection's gems, and about twenty different machines recall an era that is now part of Swedish cultural history.
Late in the summer an annual excavator day is held, when visitors can get to know the rarities and buy fika. The rest of the year the museum is open, and guided tours can be booked on request.
