About the museum
Kalix fiskemuseum has existed since 1995 and is run by volunteers. It lies at Kalixkajen in central Kalix, on the quay that was formerly the harbour for the steamboat traffic to Nederkalix and a crossing point for the ferry over the river.
The exhibition shows the history of fishing in Kalix with objects and photographs of fishing at sea and along the coast. Part of the museum is an old boathouse (sjöbod). Kalix fiskemuseum is open on certain days and at certain times during the summer.
