About the museum
Klavreströms bruk was established in 1736, and the ironworks operated for several hundred years. Production ceased in 1982. The Bruksmuseet was set up in the old stone storehouse in the mid-1980s and opened in 1985 as Sweden's second ironworks museum.
The museum shows the history of the works and objects from the period up to its closure, including old cast iron objects ranging from bar iron (stångjärn) to modern cast-iron villa boilers.
The museum is located in the Stenhallen, a building erected about 200 years ago as a store for agricultural produce. In the 1920s a tennis hall was set up on the second floor, and it is still in use. Along one long wall is a 14-metre-long painting by the artist Einar Jolin.
