About the museum
Klockhuset in Skadom in the Ådalen valley is based on Torbjörn Holmer's collection of clocks, which he built up over almost five decades. Together with his wife Britt-Mari and with help from his brother Lars, who was an architect, he created a space for the passing of time in a converted and extended cowshed.
The collection comprises just over 700 table, wall and floor clocks as well as alarm clocks from four centuries. Several sundials stand outside the museum building, so that visitors can see timekeepers both indoors and outdoors. Klockhuset lies in the middle of Skadom, about 500 metres from the railway crossing.
Torbjörn Holmer died in 2016, and the family continues to run Klockhuset in his spirit. Guided tours can be arranged all year round.
