About the museum
Körsbärsgården (The Cherry Farm) on Storsudret has been a gathering place for painters and sculptors since the 1940s. Signe Enström, who was born in the parish, ran an inn and a shop here, sold arts and crafts, showed art and laid out a large display garden.
Marita and Jon Jonsson took over the farm at the turn of the millennium and from 2010 began to extend it with an art hall, a sculpture gallery, pavilions and a sculpture park. The complex has received Region Gotland's architecture prize. The older houses, which previously housed a bus garage and a carpentry workshop, now contain a café, an artist residency and a workshop.
The activities are run by Stiftelsen Körsbärsgården Pedagogik (Körsbärsgården Education Foundation), with support from a support association. Each year seven to eight exhibitions are shown, and in the sculpture park and gallery there are around forty permanent works. In summer, lectures, concerts, poetry evenings and theatre are also arranged.
