About the museum
Kronetorps mölla (Kronetorp Windmill) is a Dutch windmill built in 1841 by the merchant Christian Bergh at the highest point of the estate of Kronetorps gård. The master builder was Sjöström from Svedala. The mill is 27 metres high and is regarded as Skåne's largest wind-driven mill. Previously there were three Bronze Age burial mounds on the site, the Darrhögarna, one of which remains next to the mill.
In earlier times the mill ground for the farm's own needs and later also for customers. In the 1860s three people were employed there. Operations ceased in 1961. The mill was restored in the 1960s by the then owner and was declared a protected building in 1971, together with the miller's house from 1842. Burlövs kommun (Burlöv Municipality) bought the property in 1976.
Since 1983 the mill has been run with the help of the non-profit Burlövs mölleförening (Burlöv Mill Association), which keeps the mill in working order and arranges guided tours. Visitors walk through the mill's four floors with millers in white clothing as guides. If the weather allows, the sails are set on the wings and the mill is started. From the top, on clear days, the view over the flat landscape is long, all the way to Malmö, Lund and Denmark. The site is today regarded as a museum.
