About the museum
Kvarnbackens Teknik & Prylmuseum in Storvik is run entirely privately and is based on a large collection of technology and curiosities from the 19th century up to the present day. The collections have grown out of a very great interest in old technology and give a clear picture of how several of the devices we use today have developed.
The collection also shows examples of inventiveness from a time when materials were expensive and labour cheap, and several home-made devices are among the objects. The museum is divided into departments: the toy department shows toys from the past, the music department follows the development of the gramophone from Edison’s first phonograph, and the telephone department shows the development of the telephone from the first Bell telephone. In addition there is an extensive radio-technology department and departments on beauty care, home nursing, engines, bicycles and fire-fighting.
Next to the museum is an old-fashioned general store.
