About the museum

The association Rostugnens Vänner (Friends of the Roasting Furnace) was formed in 2009 to renovate and preserve the old roasting furnace (rostugn) in the middle of Brevens bruk, and it became a platform for cultural activities at the same time. Today the association has about 500 members.

The association's largest project is Modellboden, which was inaugurated in 2016 and is called Sweden's newest working life museum. The collection of wooden foundry patterns is unique and has been preserved for a hundred years. It gives a good picture of the old ironworks' production, and the association describes it as the world's largest collection of foundry patterns.

The museum is being expanded as the economy and resources allow. The collection is displayed in a 150-year-old building, and guided tours are held in summer and at special events.
