About the museum
The Museum for Queen Christina’s coronation equipage is located in the stable building in the grounds of Ulriksdal Palace in Solna. It presents the history of Queen Christina’s coronation in 1650 and above all the coronation carriage, one of the most important objects in Swedish ceremonial history from the 17th century.
The original coach was a gift to the queen from Crown Prince Karl Gustav. The coach itself has been lost, but the magnificent carriage textiles were kept in the Royal Armoury (Livrustkammaren) for over three hundred years. In the 1980s a reconstruction of the coronation equipage was begun. The undercarriage is a type reconstruction on which the original textiles were mounted.
The result was that the entire equipage, with a team of six white horses in front of the coach, could be shown for the first time since the 17th century. The stable with the coronation carriage is now shown during pre-booked visits in connection with visits to Ulriksdal Palace or the Orangery Museum (Orangerimuseet).
