About the museum

Haga parkmuseum is located in the middle of the three Koppartälten (Copper Tents) in Hagaparken in Solna. The tents were designed by Louis Jean Desprez for Gustav III and were completed in 1790. The museum tells the story of Haga, the people associated with the place and the park's buildings, and shows how the park has developed. Among the people presented are Gustav III and Carl Michael Bellman.

The museum opened in 1983 and was reopened in spring 2003 by the Swedish National Property Board (Statens fastighetsverk) after a rebuild with an entirely new exhibition. The exhibition consists of two smaller rooms and one larger room, where Hagaparken is shown with new and historical pictures and plans, including an enlargement of Fredrik Magnus Piper's general plan from 1781.

In the middle of the large room stands a detailed wooden model of Stora Haga Castle, the pleasure palace that Gustav III planned but which was never built beyond its foundations. Through a peephole and a mirror system, visitors can look into the castle's dome, and parts of the model can be lifted off to show the interior in miniature. According to Kungliga slotten (the Royal Palaces), the museum is temporarily closed.
