About the museum
Nävekvarns bruksmuseum is a working-life museum in the old distillery by Svalbergsgården in Nävekvarn. The distillery was built in 1815 and lies next to Svalbergsgården, which dates from 1720 and which Tunabergs hembygdsförening (Tunaberg local heritage association) was given the use of about thirty years after the association was formed in 1949. The museum opened on 12 June 2004.
The exhibition shows castings from the production of Näfvekvarns styckebruk (cannon works) from the 1850s and a little way into the 20th century, art castings from the period that began in 1917, and cannons from the cannon-works era.
The museum is run by Tunabergs hembygdsförening, which was formed in 1949 and has about 750 members. In Nävekvarn and in Koppartorp there are summer cafés whose opening hours follow those of the museums.
