About the museum
Njudungs hembygdsmuseum is located in Forngården, a park in the middle of Vetlanda with well-preserved old houses and interesting interiors. The museum is run by Hembygdsföreningen Njudung (Njudung local heritage society), which cares for the district's cultural heritage in the park.
One of the houses is Storstugan, a dwelling building that is now about 250 years old and furnished as it was in the 17th–19th centuries. Visitors can see how people lived and worked in the area in earlier times.
In the same park is also the Vetlanda skolmuseum (school museum). In summer a summer café is open in Forngården, serving coffee and waffles, and there is a mini golf course in the park.
