About the museum
Norrtälje luftvärnsmuseum (anti-aircraft museum) was inaugurated on 13 December 1995 and is run as a non-profit association. Its purpose is to preserve the memory of anti-aircraft defence in Norrtälje and of Roslagens luftvärnskår (Roslagen Anti-Aircraft Corps, Lv 3), which was based here between 1941 and 2000. The museum is located on the former garrison site, which today is Campus Roslagen.
The collection includes anti-aircraft guns from different eras, among them 20 mm and 40 mm anti-aircraft autocannons, the older 7.5 cm anti-aircraft gun m/02, colloquially known as the stubbkanonen (stump gun), and Robotsystem 69 (Redeye). The website also describes an anti-aircraft hall, a 1940s room and a cellar with objects that are continuously updated, together with a timeline of the history of anti-aircraft defence.
Visitors can come on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons or by arrangement, and the association offers guided tours for a fee.
