About the museum
Kvarngården lies in Bergshamra gamla by (old village) in Roslagen and is the heritage homestead of Länna hembygdsförening (Länna local heritage association). The water mill has its origins in the 18th century, but the mill's activity on the site is said to go back to the time of Gustav Vasa. Next to the mill there is the miller's dwelling and a newer stage building with a simple café.
Länna hembygdsförening was formed on 17 October 1925 and at first held its local heritage festivals in Penningby park, later at Kvarngården. In 1937 the association bought the premises from Bergshamra sawmill, and since then it has been the association's permanent home.
Today the association runs Kvarngården as a museum. During July the site is open to visitors with cultural activities, and during the annual art weeks the mill is open to the public. Midsummer is celebrated at Kvarngården, and at other times guided tours can be booked.
