About the museum
The 50s Museum och Nostalgicafé is in Tryde outside Tomelilla, in a former chicken farm. The founder, Kaj Persson, together with his brother and father, built prize-winning custom cars during the 1980s, which toured Europe. The collection of period objects grew out of the garage, and the business moved to the farm in Tryde. In summer 2026 the museum celebrates 30 years.
The exhibition covers about 2,400 square metres and shows settings from the 1900s, among them a village general store, a barber's, a shoemaker's and a printing works, as well as a kitchen and living room from the 1950s and 1960s. There are over 100 vehicles, for example cars, tractors, mopeds and caravans, several unique custom builds and thousands of toys. During 2026 a toy museum and a Stirling museum have been added.
On the grounds there is a café in 1950s style, cabins and a pitch for motorhomes and caravans. In summer, car meets are held on Sundays, with boot sales (bakluckeloppis) and music.
