About the museum

Sölje village hall (bygdegård) lies on the western shore of Glafsfjorden, south-west of Arvika. The old home of the furnace master (hyttmästare) from the ironworks era is today the village hall, and next to it is a small glass museum that shows glass from Sölje.

Inside the village hall there is a rich photo and film museum with cameras, projectors and other technical equipment from the 1800s onwards, as well as a small cinema. There are also exhibitions about the local Åsen republic and about Arvé, and in the old post house (poststuga) you can see how the postal service worked.

In the lake storehouse (sjömagasinet) tools from farming and forestry are shown. On the grounds there is also a smithy from the ironworks era with a unique bellows, a so-called blowing machine (blåsmaskin), and forging tools. A culture trail leads visitors through the district.
