About the museum
Göteborgs spårvägsmuseum (Gothenburg Tram Museum) is run by the non-profit association Spårvägssällskapet Ringlinien (Ringlinien Tram Society), which was founded in 1981 to preserve the history of local public transport and its vehicles. Since then the association has run veteran trams on the Liseberg line and takes on charter services.
The museum is in Gårdahallen, a tram depot built in 1930 as a complement to the Stampen depot. When the trams moved to the new depot at Rantorget in the 1980s, Gårdahallen was allowed to remain, and in 1989 the museum trams and the Ringlinien activity moved there. At the end of 1995 the municipal council decided that the building should be preserved as a depot for the historic tram fleet.
In the hall stand the association's veteran trams and veteran buses. The museum shows, among other things, tickets and fares, uniforms, film and a model tramway under construction.
