About the museum

Universeum is Sweden's national science centre and one of the ten most visited attractions in the country. Its activities focus on natural science, technology and mathematics, and it is run as a profit-making but non-profit-distributing limited company. Among its founders are the University of Gothenburg, Chalmers, the West Swedish Chamber of Commerce and the Gothenburg region.

The building houses exhibitions such as Akvariehallen (the Aquarium Hall), Regnskogen (the Rainforest), Reptilariet (the Reptile House), Vildmarken (the Wilderness), Rymdresan (the Space Journey), Humans, Mathrix, Vislab and Kemilabbet (the Chemistry Lab), as well as Miniverseum for the youngest and Wisdome, a dome cinema. Guided tours are included in the entrance ticket.

More than half a million people reach Universeum every year, both on site and through activities outside the building. In 2026 Universeum celebrates 25 years.
