About the museum
Sunne hembygdsgård (Sunne Homestead) lies idyllically on the outskirts of central Sunne. The main building was moved here and inaugurated in 1957. On the site there is also a school museum, an old-fashioned country general store (lanthandel), a smithy, a loft storehouse (loftbod), a soldier's croft (soldattorp) and an old stolpbod (raised storehouse on posts).
The homestead also has a picture archive with old photographs, which is open all year round. During the year activities are arranged for all ages, for example a midsummer celebration, nävgröt evenings (nävgrötskvällar) with entertainment on Wednesdays in July, slide shows, music evenings, a Christmas market and Lucia celebrations. The main building and the dance pavilion (danslogen) can be rented for various events.
