About the museum
Slottet i Svartå (the Castle in Svartå) is the property and homestead of Svartå hembygdsförening (Svartå Local Heritage Society). Svartå is an old works village in Degerfors Municipality, and the village's website follows the history of the works from 1309 to 1966.
In the house a wide and varied range of activities takes place. Members gather every Thursday to maintain the property and to photograph and document objects. In the premises there are rooms arranged for flea-market activity (loppisverksamhet), a forest museum and rooms from different periods.
The association arranges activities in spring and summer, among them an annual cake party (tårtkalas), and for example a Lucia celebration at Slottet on Sunday 13 December 2026. The premises can also be rented.
