About the museum
Svedinos Bil- och Flygmuseum opened on 20 June 1961 and is regarded as the first car museum in the Nordic countries. The collection was built up by Lennart Svedfelt (1924–1993), who performed under the stage name Svedino as a magician and pickpocket and partly financed his collecting through his performances. As early as the 1950s his vintage cars had been shown at Skansen and at exhibitions around the country, before he found a site in Ugglarp by Kustvägen in northern Halland.
The museum started with around 35 cars in 550 square metres. During the 1960s the first aircraft joined the collection, and the premises were extended several times in the 1960s and 1970s and again in 1980. Today the museum is one of the largest in Scandinavia, with around a hundred cars, some forty aircraft, engines and utility objects.
The museum has been built up and is run mainly by volunteers and receives no public operating grant. Its income comes from visitors, members and donations.
