About the museum
Harplinge Hembygdsförening (local heritage association) was formed in 1923 and manages and looks after buildings and collections in the district. The association's area corresponds to the former Harplinge Municipality, and it has around 650 members. The heritage farmstead lies at the foot of Aggaredsberg on a plot of one hectare.
Among the buildings is Särdalsstugan, a ryggåsstuga (ridge-beam cottage) or bålastuga from the 1700s, which originally stood at Kråkegård in Särdal. It was bought in 1903 by the factory owner Wallberg, donated to Hallands Museiförening (Halland Museum Association), and stood in Norre Katts park in Halmstad before it was moved to the heritage farmstead in 1972; since 2008 the association has owned the cottage. Beneath the cottage is a large archive. Cederholms smithy was built in 1979 in timber after the old dimensions and houses the fittings from the original smithy in Särdal.
Other buildings belonging to the association include the Gillestuglogen (guild cabin), the church stable, the herb garden and several long buildings on the site, as well as the malt house and the linbastu at Borgasgård. Särdal's lifeboat station, which the association also manages, is a destination in its own right.
