About the museum
Tempelgården on northern Visingsö, about five kilometres from the harbour, was created by the Visingsö artist Olle Krantz (1906–1999) as an artists' farm open to everyone. He bought the land and moved several buildings here from different parts of the island.
The main building, the Temple (Templet), was built in 1913 for the Theosophists' world peace congress led by Katherine Tingley. It was built as an art hall and was originally a copy of the Parthenon, near the castle ruin. It was later moved to Stigby and used as a school, until Olle Krantz brought it to its present site.
Olle Krantz's art is shown in the Temple. Outside is a sculpture park with his sculptures among fruit trees and grassy areas. The site also has houses from five centuries, a summer café with ceramics and cabins to rent.
