About the museum
Tidaholms museum is on Vulcanön in the middle of Tidaholm, in the old factory premises where the Vulcan match factory once operated. The museum is run by Tidaholm Municipality and tells how Tidaholm developed into an industrial town, a town that is a little over a hundred years old.
The basic exhibition depicts Tidaholm’s history room by room, from work and everyday life to social change. In Vulcan’s old smithy, built in 1871, an industrial forging environment is shown where crafts are demonstrated. In the vehicle hall stand nine preserved vehicles from Tidaholms Bruk, which between 1903 and 1934 built about a thousand vehicles.
The foremen’s office was restored in 2023 in 1930s style with furniture from Tidaholms Bruk and can be rented by smaller groups. The museum offers guided tours, town walks and tours of Turbinhusön (the Turbine House Island), as well as a café and a museum shop.
