About the museum
Vadstena MC- och traktormuseum was built in 1985 and opened in 1986 in a hall of 384 square meters. The collections grew quickly, and the museum was extended to 768 square meters in 1991 and once more in 2007, so that today it has 1,200 square meters of exhibition space.
The motorcycle collection comprises about 80 motorcycles and mopeds from Sweden, Denmark, England, the USA, Germany and Czechoslovakia. The oldest are from the 1920s, and here are road motorcycles, military motorcycles and speedway machines, as well as mopeds from different decades. Photographs of racing riders and a large collection of speedway vests from active and defunct clubs complement the exhibition.
The tractor collection consists of about 90 tractors from the 1920s to the 1960s, made in Sweden, the USA, Germany, France, Czechoslovakia and England, all of which have been used in Swedish farming. In addition, stationary engines are displayed, including larger hot-bulb engines that drove sawmills and threshing machines, as well as smaller engines that drove milking machines, wood saws and mills. During the annual veteran days in July, tractors, motorcycles and engines are run.
