About the museum
Sjölingården is one of the three museum farms in Skänninge’s cultural reserve Gamla Skeninge. On the farm, objects from many periods are shown in furnished settings: a general store, an apothecary (apotek) and a clockmaker’s workshop. There is also a stable and a working smithy.
On the farm stands Solbergastugan, which is Skänninge’s oldest museum building. During the summer months events for all ages are arranged, and in the Sagocaféet (story café) visitors can, for part of the summer, have fika on self-service among the museum objects.
The farms in Gamla Skeninge are owned by Mjölby Municipality but are looked after and shown by S:ta Ingrids gille, the local heritage society of Skänninge, which also owns the museum objects. The guild was formed in 1926 with the aim of preserving what remained of the old in the district and creating an antiquities home (fornhem) in the town.
