About the museum
The museum is located in the heritage farmstead (hembygdsgården) in Norrhamnen, a property owned by Vaxholm town and managed by Vaxholms hembygdsförening (local heritage association). The property belonged to the accountant (kamrer) Fredrik Georg Blomberg, who in 1880 donated Blombergska udden (Blomberg Point) with its buildings to Vaxholm town and the church. The heritage association has managed the heritage farmstead since 1961.
In summer the upper floor shows a skötbåt (sailing boat), a so-called vaxholmare, which was the first yard-built longboat in Vaxholm. The interior from the old shoemaker's workshop by the square and parts of Emil Jansson's boatyard at Stegesund are also there. On the ground floor it shows how a fisher family lived in the late 19th century.
