About the museum
Zornmuseet in Mora shows the life’s work of the artist Anders Zorn. The building was designed by Ragnar Östberg and completed in 1939; in 1982 a glazed stairwell by Torbjörn Olsson was added, and in 1996 an extension by Gunnar Nordström. The museum itself says that it has the world’s largest collection of Zorn’s works.
Anders and Emma Zorn gave their collections to the Swedish state. The gift comprises four museums and almost 20,000 objects: Zorn’s own paintings, watercolours, etchings and sculptures, a large collection of Rembrandt etchings, works by other artists from the home’s collections, and silver, furniture and porcelain. Zorngården (the Zorn House) was inaugurated as a museum in 1942, and Zorns gammelgård (Zorn’s Old Farm), an open-air museum that Zorn began in 1914, belongs to the same organisation.
A new permanent exhibition about Zorn is shown in the Zornmuseet. Parts of the museum are closed in autumn 2026 for rehanging of the art, and the entrance fee is then reduced. Next to it lies Zorngården, where visitors enter with a guide into the home of the couple Anders and Emma Zorn.
