About the museum
The Chocolarium is the visitor world of Maestrani Schweizer Schokoladen AG in Flawil. The company was founded in 1852 by Aquilino Maestrani in Lucerne, moved to St. Gallen in 1859, and launched the chocolate stick Minor in 1936. In 1997 it took over Munz AG in Flawil and moved its head office to this location.
In 2017 Maestrani opened the Chocolarium here, the “Glücksfabrik von Munz und Minor”. According to the company, it is the only Swiss chocolate factory that lets guests look right into production. The roughly one-hour tour explains interactively how cocoa becomes chocolate and leads via a glass gallery past the production lines.
The house also includes a large shop with the Munz and Minor range and factory outlet prices, a self-service café with terrace, and courses and experiences such as pouring and decorating your own chocolate. A signposted walking path, the Schoggiweg, connects the Chocolarium with Flawil railway station.
