About the museum
The Museum Chürzi is run by the Museumsverein Wigoltingen für Kultur und Geschichte (Wigoltingen Association for Culture and History), founded on September 29, 1993. The association’s mission is to collect and safeguard cultural heritage and to promote artistic and cultural activities. It combines historical background, cultural developments and contemporary topics in a varied annual program.
The exhibitions take place in the basement at Kürziweg 2, in the exhibition room of the former Villa Fleig next to the Café Chürzi. The association usually organizes two exhibitions a year. In spring, on four Sundays, it shows objects from its collection, supplemented by loans, on a historical theme. In fall, also on four Sundays, individual artists or several artists together can exhibit and sell their works. In addition, the association holds an autumn market on the village square in front of the Chileschür every year on the Saturday before Bettag (Swiss Federal Day of Prayer). The museum is only open sporadically.
