About the museum
The Ortsmuseum of the Municipality of Häggenschwil opened in 1997 and is located in Lömmenschwil, at Alte Konstanzerstrasse 7 next to the fire station depot. It is looked after by the municipal Museum Commission and displays many relics of earlier times.
The extensive collection covers numerous topics: archaeological finds from the nearby Ramschwag castle ruin, local history, trades and crafts with workshops such as a smithy, saddlery, cooperage, wheelwright's or shoemaker's, as well as household and kitchen, a hairdresser's salon, firefighting equipment and religious folk art. Other areas include musical instruments and gramophones, a telephone and electronics exhibition with around 200 telephones, as well as radios and televisions, school objects and memorabilia of the Bodensee-Toggenburg railway.
The objects are shown in changing arrangements. The museum is open to the public on individual visiting days during the year; otherwise by arrangement.
