About the museum

The Museu de la Miniatura in Ordino presents the only permanent exhibition of the Ukrainian miniaturist Nikolai Syadristy, regarded as a world genius of this discipline. The fourteen pieces on display represent eight years of work, are made of gold, platinum and natural materials, and must be viewed through a microscope. Among the works are, for example, a still life on a grain of salt and a camel caravan passing through the eye of a needle.

The museum also shows the work of the Chinese artist Liu Shouben, Grand Master of Beijing: a collection of small Chinese snuff bottles, about five centimetres tall, painted on the inside with figures, landscapes and monuments of Andorra. It was a challenge proposed by the owner of the museum, and the artist has also made bottles with international motifs, such as the Château de Chambord, the Sagrada Família or the Park Güell. New pieces are added every year.

The display is completed by Russian nesting dolls (matryoshkas) and papier-mâché boxes from the workshops of the Golden Ring of Moscow, and by a small audiovisual space on the life and work of Syadristy. The visit can be self-guided or guided and takes about 20 minutes; the museum is inside the Edifici Maragda.
